Presenting Yelena York’s I AM Collection

Exceptional and super creative visual artist Yelena York showed us what it means to be an exceptional talent in the art world with her new collection tagged “I AM.” Pioneering stippling and pointillism in creative artistry as we know it today, Yelena York debuted the collection at her solo private show using Acrylic in Los Angeles on October 22, 2021.

The event was sponsored by Lobos 1707 Tequila, founded by actor and socialite Diego Osorio, basketball icon LeBron James, and one of America’s top business executives, Dia Simms, who doubles as the CEO of Lobos 1707 Tequila.

While the private showing was particularly to exhibit works from her new collections, it also featured her older art pieces, displaying her unrivalled prowess in pointillism and stippling. With two individual sections, one displaying red-themed artistry from her recent collection and the other showcasing her older works, viewers were treated to a myriad of phenomenal artworks representing varying emotions and meanings but from one source.

According to Yelena York, the primary colour of her latest collection is Red which stands for the blood that runs through our veins, without which we would not be humans.  She went further to state that “The new series represents strength; they represent the core essence of us – to connect and to let ourselves BE.”

Not only is Yelena York a gifted artist, but she also has her way with words too. This she proved as she wrote six emotions-provoking poems for each piece in the collection. Her goal with the poems is for humans to transcend the physical and communicate using the strongest way we know how to – the emotions we share that might be too deep for words to explain.

It was a day well spent with collectors, art lovers, fans, friends, and family. Of course, there were plenty of delicious cuisines that the people utterly enjoyed, with tequila and drinks supplied by Lobos 1707. There were also shop stops showcasing Yelena’s works up for sale, which she autographed for everyone who made a purchase.

Reflecting on Yelena York’s Statement

Yelena York’s new body of works revolves around her and her audience, capturing everything similar and different that is in between.  Using only three colours for the entire collection, she skilfully showed the depths of each colour, pulling out the emotions they are capable of evoking and highlighting the varying shades within.

In her opinion, black and white hold the most layers of in-betweens. She agrees with the truth that the colours black and white are human’s heaviest burdens to carry, seeing that we easily get webbed in the shades in between, at a loss of whether to go all pitch black or accept the shining brightness only white can offer. On the flip side, the colour red in the collection is not just the main colour in the collection but stands as a significant reminder of the blood that runs through our veins, giving us our human essence, making it the saving truth in the confusion that comes with being in between black and white.

The ‘I AM’ collection gives you a peek into forms visible yet intentionally shrouded in a blur to help you see beyond the physical lines and strokes of the pieces, concentrating even more on recalling forgotten emotions, feelings and moments. Paintings represent varying forms of strength, representing our very core essence, to help us connect and give ourselves a chance to unhinderedly BE.
